Friday

It's Garbage Day!

40.6 degrees and cloudy.

From WKTV: "After some low clouds and fog start Friday, a mix of sun and clouds will be the rule, though the afternoon will be nice. It will be breezy and cool with highs struggling to reach the lower 50s. A few clouds will filter in Saturday night, capping our overnight lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. Then, a nice looking weekend is expected. Saturday will be mostly sunny with some high clouds. Sunday looks good, with sunshine as well. Highs on Saturday will top off near 50 and in the mid to upper 50s on Sunday. "

It was soggy, much of yesterday, but the stump is gone and perhaps today someone will appear in the Park to start building the form for the concrete foundation of the Bandstand.

There's a Hallowe'en doorway at the corner of Putnam Street and Barton Avenue.....

..... and, on E. Bacon Street, these friendly creatures have returned to Joan's front lawn.

You've heard - or heard of - them: right?

The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded 28 albums, including their latest, Campaign and Suffering . They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard 4 times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials.

----- and they'll be at the Stanley on Friday, October 24th

Meet one of "the Steps."
