IT'S GARBAGE DAY!

32.7 degrees and foggy

Great thanks to Nicki Suba who took time, last night, to write:

"reporting on the double wins for Waterville Indians' Varsity Soccer Teams:

4:30 p.m. Girls - 1-0 at Bishop Ludden (goal made with 17 seconds left in the game by senior, Jessica Specht)
7:00 p.m. Boys - 4-0 against Sauquoit at home
I was in attendance for the all of the girls' game and about 3/4 of the boys'. Can't remember who scored from the boys' team because I was too pumped from the girls!!!"

Details on WKTV: Waterville Beats Rival Sauquoit

At the Waterville Public Library - there were fifty-three stars on the "Veterans' Wall" and although the "blue" is filled, there's plenty more wall space and lots and lots more stars available for your use!

It was really a miserable, bone-chilling cold day yesterday, but the DPW was out with the street sweeper and the orange leaf-vacuum truck.

There was nothing happening in the Park in the morning .............

... but Ray Drake was there in the afternoon, getting ready to install forms for the walls of the bandstand foundation. Today's forecast sounds better:

WKTV predicts that: "Thursday will start off with lingering clouds but any clouds that are around early in the morning will diminish by mid morning and near noon. With the sunshine, highs will be a bit milder with temperatures in the low 50s. Sunshine will continue into Friday with even milder temperatures. Highs will reach the mid 50s Friday afternoon."

FIRST SNOW LAST YEAR: NOVEMBER 8

I haven't heard any prognostications about what to expect this Winter: have you?

Are woolly-bear caterpillars telling us anything?

All of the fruit/berry trees, shrubs and vines have been full - that's supposed to mean something!

On Putnam Street, the Barneys have a pretty Autumn display .......

.......... and on Fuess-Cleary Road, the woods are filled with gold-leaved beech trees.

South of Sangerfield, it looks as if refurbishments are being made to this wonderful old homestead which was probably built by one of the Terry family around the time of - or before - the Civil War.
