Wednesday

It's Recyclables Day.

50 degrees and clear.

WKTV predicts that: "a gorgeous day is expected with sunshine from start to finish. Highs will be near 80 degrees. Nothing more than a few high clouds are expected throughout the day.
A warm front will pass through Wednesday night and Thursday, which will usher in warmer and more humid air, along with more unsettled weather. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, both Thursday morning (mainly south of Utica) and Thursday afternoon and evening."

Tinker Hollow Hill

Speaking of history ............. was "Tinker Hollow" named for a family named "Tinker" or because a "tinker" (or tinkerer) lived there?

Old schoolhouse
near the corner of Tinker Hollow and Stone Roads.

Was this the "school-house in Tinker Hollow?"

The Waterville Times; March 6, 1863

From the same issue but - apparently - in re: another incident!

From The Waterville Times, June 25, 1858:

HOP The hop vine in southern portions of Oneida and northern portions of Madison Counties never looked better at this season of the year. The growth is very strong and vigorous and, thus far, the fly has not yet made its appearance.

Hurrah! - Ice Cream!

ICE CREAM will be "served up" in the Parlor of the American every Saturday evening 'til further notice. A. Benedict.

Editor's note: Ice Cream, that great luxury in Summer, may be obtained every Saturday evening at the American. The parlor will be open to the public and the attentive host will spare no pains to satisfy the cravings of the lovers of Ice Cream.

The Ladies of the 1st Presbyterian Society of this village will give their second annual Strawberry Festival, on the grounds of Mrs. R. Tower, on Thursday evening July 1st. A band of music has been engaged for the occasion. A display of fireworks and a balloon ascension will add to the festivities.

On Wednesday we had an interview with the Mayor of Deansville who assured us that there will be "tall times" in his city on 3rd July. Many of our citizens will uncork their patriotic spirits on that auspicious occasion.

The trial of Grove Loomis, against whom eight indictments are pending, did not come off at the recent session of Circuit Court and Court of Oyer & Terminer. He is to be tried at the Adjourned Term, which commences on the 17th of August, providing he does not "turn up missing."
