Monday afternoon

As of 2:00 P.M., hundreds - or thousands - of Frontier customers were still without telephone AND internet service! Banks are closed; ATM's are Offline, and there are lots and lots of angry people!

I'm back at the Nice 'n Easy in Sangerfield especially so that I can add this update and let all of you who are trying to either phone or send E-mail to folks around here -- the outage is fairly widespread, but "they're working on it!"

I've also been trying to relay information between Tom Barnes, in Connecticut, and The Waterville Times --- unfortunately, the newspaper has already been "put to bed," but it's important to the Barnes family that all of you know that our fine old friend, Willis Barnes, passed away last Saturday in Roanoke, Virginia, at the age of 87.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter Barbara Smith of Roanoke; son Thomas and wife Bonnie of Canton, CT.; son David and wife Amy of Gaithersburg, Md., six grandsons and cousin Leah Schwertfeger of Utica, New York.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 2nd, at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville, NY. A graveside service at St. Bernard's cemetery will follow immediately.

As soon as I have the full obituary I'll post it here and I'm sure that it will also be in the Utica O-D.
