Wednesday

Recyclables Day!

It's 52 degrees.

From WKTV: "Wednesday will again start off sunny and warm, with highs near 80. A weak cold front will push through on Wednesday afternoon and evening. This front will basically be "dying out" as it moves through, so some showers and thunderstorms will occur, but a significant amount of showers and storms is unlikely. A few storms could have small hail or heavy downpours. The front will usher in slightly cooler weather for Thursday, with highs near 70 or so, perhaps in the low 70s. It will again be quite sunny. It will also be significantly drier on Thursday, with low humidity and a gusty wind. Fire danger on Thursday is high, so any outdoor burning anywhere is not encouraged."

IN THE NEWS

No doubt some blog-readers were fortunate enough to have gotten tickets to attend the Dalai Lama's speech at the Colgate University Fieldhouse, yesterday. I missed out, but both the O-D and WKTV were there.

The DPW was out early, yesterday morning, hanging flags on all of the telephone poles along Stafford Avenue, Main Sreet and Sanger Avenue. What a pretty sight!

New decorations for the blogger's car - a birthday present from "The Kids!"

This wonderful spell of Summery weather is bringing out lots of other decorations, too: the magnolia bush on Mrs. Lamaitis' front lawn is covered with buds, just beginning to open.

This is going to limit some of our travels.

Bridgett Welsh, however, spent last week visiting the Mosemanns in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, and sent some pictures to share:

"We had a wonderfully relaxing time during our visit with Eric and Jana Mosemann in Boiling Springs, PA. Boiling Springs is a beautiful town just outside of Carlisle. Their town "square" is actually a lake! The Children's Lake (as it's called now) was privately owned, but in 1987 the Appalachian Trail Conference Land Trust purchased it so that it would always be preserved. The area around the beautiful old stone house at 400 Front Street is an official Wildlife Habitat. They had just stocked the lake the Saturday we drove through and there were tons of people out in row boats. We also visited an old-order Mennonight dairy farm where the Mosemann's get their milk products and a pretty impressive Amish bent & dent grocery store that is run all by generators!" (Thank you, Bridgett!)

(I went googling, and think that these "babies" are ducklings - not cygnets.)

Thank You, too, to Jeannie Heidel who sent this picture of a herd of buffalo.
