From WKTV, as of last night: "After the cool weather we've had lately the weather will warm up quite a bit heading into the week.
For tonight, skies will average partly cloudy. Another weak disturbance will slide by late tonight and tomorrow morning that will give us a few extra clouds and the potential for a few showers. Overnight lows will range from the mid 30s north to low 40s elsewhere. It may be chilly enough in the Adirondacks tomorrow morning where these showers could fall as a few wet flakes with no accumulation.
Once those showers move through, skies will slowly clear out through the afternoon. By late afternoon, expect lots of sunshine with temperatures topping in the mid 50s. On Monday night, with clear skies and light winds, we have a chance to see temperatures fall into the low 30s for many locations, meaning the possibility for frost. After that, a nice warmup is expected for the middle of the week, with a return to..get this...60s!"

It's Brian Staring and the Great Pumpkin weighing in at 927 lbs. at the Pumpkin Fest in Oswego. Brian took fifth place with this giant veggie - the largest he's ever grown!

I had a note from Library Director Jeff Reynolds, in which he wrote: "There's a nice article about Doodletown, referencing Elizabeth ("Perk") Stalter and her book (which of course we have here at WPL) in the 24 Sep 08 issue of the New York Times. Here's a link to the article, which includes current photos of the old village site."

And, if you'd like more Waterville pictures to look at - Charles Thompson of No Sheep Designs sent me an E-note on Friday saying that he'd just uploaded 524 photographs to the Cruisin website! Click HERE and enjoy!

Here's a copy of a "Letter to the Editor"
that appeared in last week's issue of The Waterville Times:

"The Memorial Bandstand Fund Committee would like to thank everyone who attended the Ground - breaking Ceremony on September 20th and express their gratitude, especially, to Ms. Patricia Louise, the Rev. Kirk A. Hudson and Mayor James Younes for making time in their busy schedules to assist in the proceedings and to Mr. Don Brown, II, for providing amplification equipment without which the ceremony would have been far less enjoyable!

We are also grateful to Grace Episcopal Church for the use of Parish Hall Chairs and to Kristin Strohmeyer, Mark Mowrey and the three Boy Scouts - Greg Tower, Alec Strohmeyer and Patrick Brady - who made the chairs appear (and disappear) in such a timely manner.

The two most Frequently Asked Questions, now, are:

“When will the building begin?” and “What will you do with the extra money?”

The answers are: “The building permit has been acquired, so work on the foundation will start soon!”*

The funds that have been raised so far will assure the construction of the bandstand structure and formation of the twin handicap-accessible walkways. “Extra money” is necessary to make possible the installaion of attractive pavers where indicated on Ms. Lutoborski’s plans; the planting of appropriate greenery and the purchase of suitably Victorian park benches as well as, of course, the very important monument. Those monies will not really be "extra," after all!

Those who still wish to make contributions and to arrange for names to be added to the monument will have several months to do so. As always, information can be acquired by writing to: The Memorial Bandstand Fund at Post Office Box #45, Waterville, N.Y. 13480 or by telephoning 315/841-4679 or sendingEmail to .
