Monday

It's Garbage Day!

64.4 cool degrees
after a very hot and humid day, yesterday,
and extraordinarily windy night.

I didn't have any particular damage - although I heard a few limbs break, during the night - but Missy Brouillette, on Barton Avenue, has just sent me these pictures of her hops - before and after the storm - and the formerly giant sunflowers!

There may be more damage "uptown" than I'm aware of!

(Thank You, Missy!)

WKTV predicts that "the (cold) front will move through by early Monday morning with much cooler and drier air behind it. Clouds and a few showers will continue for Monday but temperatures will be around 20 degrees cooler with highs only near 70 degrees! The brisk winds will diminish throughout the day. Behind the cold front, high pressure will move on in with plenty of sunshine and autumn like temperatures for the rest of the week."

All eyes are on this!

Nana and Grandpa hold Jillian - less than 2 hours old!

I received a very nice e-mail from Leslie Olivera-Van Wormer, on Saturday, with these pictures enclosed!

"We are the proud grandparents of a new baby girl - Jillian Van Wormer was born on Wed. Sept 10th to our son Jim and Sandi Van Wormer of Valatie, NY (near Albany). We went out to babysit for all of the girls while mom and dad were at the hospital! Retirement is wonderful!
We now have 6 grand children - the four girls in Valatie and our daughter Sara and husband Jeff have a little girl Jordan (4) and a son Nathan (3) - they live in Mohawk."

Jillian is being held by her Dad, Jim, and is welcomed by her her 3 big sisters - McKinley (5), Amelia (3) and Jameson (2)

- and from Jan Fleischmann, more memories of "Arnold's."

"I, too, have some wonderful memories of Arnold Pugh's garage. We lived right across the street from the garage. Therefore, our treat was to go to Arnold's for a dixie cup of ice cream or candy bar on occasion. Also, my Dad rented a stall to park his car at Arnold's. So, we were in and out of there everyday. One humorous memory was that our dog, Queen, one day ran across the street and went into the opened front door of the garage and stole a candy bar and brought it back across the street and ate it. We later found just the wrapper left as evidence. Of course, my Mom went over and paid Arnold for it. All got a kick out of this escapade. Arnold was a great friend to us, as well as his brothers."

Planning Ahead!

It's going to be a VERY BUSY - but very FUN WEEK!

Blog posts will no doubt reflect the fact that I - just as many others - am trying to do several things all at the same time!

My second-to-main project (which is the Bandstand Groundbreaking) is to print out a series of photographs taken before the start of the Highway Reconstruction Project, in 2005, and brand new pictures of the same views --- all of which will get pinned up in the Hallway Gallery at the Library in a "Before and After" show for visitors to see when they come to the Alumni-Community Get-together on Saturday evening!
